IST Food Fair Brings Cultures and Community to the Table

Families and staff shared food from every continent, creating opportunities to connect through traditions, stories and flavours.

Food can tell stories about family, place, tradition and belonging. At this year’s IST Food Fair, our international community brought those stories together through dishes representing every continent.

Contributions from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania created a varied table and gave participants an opportunity to discover different culinary traditions. More importantly, the fair encouraged conversations about the people, memories and cultural practices connected with the food being shared.

In a school community representing more than 50 nationalities, events like the Food Fair create welcoming spaces for families to contribute to school life and learn from one another. They help students experience cultural diversity through personal encounters while recognising that every culture contains many individual traditions and perspectives.

The achievement was not simply bringing together food from around the world. It was bringing people together around the same tables—with curiosity, generosity and an openness to sharing.

Thank you to everyone who prepared a dish, helped organise the event or joined the celebration. Your contributions made the Food Fair a genuine reflection of IST’s international community.
