Fridays at IST: Assemblies that Inspire and Teach
Fridays at IST are always filled with energy and reflection as students gather for their assemblies. Today, both the PYP and MYP communities came together to share, learn, and grow through thoughtful discussions and creative presentations.
PYP Assembly: Choices and Relationships
The morning began with the PYP assembly, where students explored the important theme of relationships and the choices we make. PYP 2 led the way with a delightful stage performance showing how good choices lead to positive outcomes—and how poor ones can bring unwanted consequences. Their performance reminded everyone that being kind, respectful, and thoughtful in our actions helps build stronger relationships with others.
Another highlight of the PYP assembly was the introduction of the new class representatives for the Student Council. Now that every student knows who their representatives are, they can share ideas, seek advice, and work together to make good decisions that strengthen our school community.
MYP Assembly: Online Etiquette and Internet Bullying
Later in the day, MYP students focused on a very important and timely topic—internet etiquette and online bullying. Grade 9 students prepared insightful presentations to help their peers understand how online behavior affects others. They explored key questions such as:
- What is online etiquette?
- What are examples of toxic “netiquette”?
- Why does this behavior happen?
- What are the effects on young people and adults?
- How can we find solutions and promote kindness online?
The assembly served as a valuable reminder that words—both spoken and typed—have power. Together, IST students are learning to make responsible choices, both in person and in the digital world.
Conclusion
Today’s assemblies highlighted the power of awareness, empathy, and responsibility. Whether on stage, in the classroom, or online, IST students continue to show that making good choices and supporting one another is what makes our community thrive.
