Finding the Right Path: MYP5 Students Prepare for DP

Learning Directly from DP Teachers and Students

During the event, students rotated through all 11 DP subject stations. At each station, they spoke directly with DP teachers and current DP students about subjects such as Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), Chemistry, Visual Arts, Mathematics, and many others. These conversations helped students understand course content, assessment styles, and the level of commitment expected in each subject.

Making Important Subject Choices for the Future

Choosing the right DP subjects is a very important step, as these decisions can strongly influence future academic and career paths. For example, students interested in medicine need a very different subject combination compared to those who hope to work in filmmaking, teaching, or the arts. This event helped students see how their interests connect to possible career goals.

Guidance on Universities and Career Pathways

After visiting the subject stations, students met with our career counsellor to discuss subject combinations, university pathways, and future opportunities. As an international school, IST prepares students for universities around the world. Well-known institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge recognize the IB Diploma as a strong qualification and no additional exams are needed.(Some courses may still require subject-specific entrance tests.)

Feeling More Confident and Prepared

By the end of the event, students left with a clearer understanding of how the IB Diploma Programme works. They gained new knowledge, asked important questions, and felt more confident and prepared for the transition into DP next year.
