Celebrating Pi Day at School

Every year on March 14th, the world celebrates Pi Day — a day dedicated to the famous number π. This year, our school marked the occasion with an exciting afternoon full of creativity, laughter, and mathematics.

After lunch on Friday, students and teachers took part in interactive Math Stations featuring Math Yoga, Kahoot quizzes, Pi dice games, and other fun challenges. One of the standout moments of the day was the incredible Math Dance performance by MYP 5, which brought energy, rhythm, and creativity to the celebration.

The highlight was the Pi memorization contest. Aleks impressed everyone by reciting 160 digits, while Mr. Koen achieved an amazing 566 digits!

Teams also competed in a math problem-solving challenge, with MYP 1A taking first place. The celebration continued with a pie competition and cupcake contest — the winning pie stood out with its creative π-shaped design.

The grand finale, “Face a Pie,” brought lots of excitement. Students bid for the chance to pie teachers, and this year teachers could pie students too! All funds raised will support children’s education in Sri Lanka.

Pi Day once again brought our community together through math, fun, and kindness — and we’re already looking forward to next year!
