FOR PRESCHOOL
Fee Subsidies: Municipal governments provide financial assistance to cover part of the preschool fees.
The City of Tallinn offers support to parents if they meet specific criteria, including the child’s age and the family’s registered address within the municipality. More detailed information can be found on the Tallinn City Education Department website.
Parents in Rae Parish can receive a monthly subsidy for preschool fees. For more detailed information, you can visit the Rae Parish support page.
In Viimsi Parish, parents are eligible for a monthly subsidy for preschool fees. More information is available on the Viimsi Parish website.
To qualify for these subsidies, certain conditions must be met, for example:
– The child’s home address must be registered within the respective parish.
– The child must be of preschool age.
Additionally, the Estonian government offers various other family allowances and tax benefits that can further support families with young children. These include child allowances, childbirth allowances, and tax deductions on educational expenses.
For further details, you can explore the resources provided by the Tallinn City Education Department and the Estonian Social Insurance Board.
TAX DEDUCTION
Parents in Estonia can benefit from tax deductions on educational expenses for their children under the age of 26. According to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, the following key points apply:
Transfer of Deductions: If the deductible amount exceeds the taxpayer’s income, the unused portion can be transferred to the spouse, provided they were married at the end of the tax year.
Eligibility: Taxpayers can deduct educational expenses incurred for themselves, their children, grandchildren, siblings, or a permanent resident of Estonia under 26 years of age. This also includes fees for kindergarten and extended-day group activities, provided these institutions have the necessary accreditation.
Deduction Limits: The maximum deductible amount for training expenses, housing loan interest, gifts, and donations is up to €1,200 per year. However, these deductions cannot exceed 50% of the taxpayer’s taxable income.
Requirements: The educational institution must be recognized either in Estonia or abroad. The expenses must be documented with the name and ID code of the trainee and the payer.
For more detailed information and specific guidelines, you can visit the Estonian Tax and Customs Board’s official page on training expenses: (EMTA) (EMTA) (EMTA).
